Last night, whilst Manchester United were playing Valencia in a friendly, the Capital One Cup competition got underway.

Now usually we wouldn`t even think about participating in this competition until the 3rd round but this year is different, this year we`re not competing in either the Champions League or the Europa League, therefore we`ll be joining the Capital One Cup at the second round stage.

I`m told that this is the first time this has happened for some 20 years and that the last time we entered this competition at this stage we were knocked out, over two legs, by mighty York City.

However, that season, 1995-1996, Manchester United went on to claim the domestic double, could that be an omen?

Could we be destined to do the same this time around?
