Earlier this year, possibly in the spring forward, Manchester United were being linked with the acquisition of Renato Sanches.

Sanches, still just eighteen years of age, was snapped up by the Bavarian giants of Bayern Munich with the German side moving quickly and swiftly to snap up the youngster.

Their investment looked to have been a bargain during the recent finals of Euro 2016 with the Portuguese midfielder producing displays that belied his young status.

Today, with the Community Shield fixture, against Leicester City, fast approaching, the claim has emerged, courtesy of the Daily Star, Click Here, that the situation could have been so much different.

Our manager, Jose Mourinho, is inferring that if Manchester United had appointed him as the new manager sooner then he`d have beaten Bayern Munich to the signing of the talented 18-year-old.

That may be the case Jose but we can`t turn back the clock so it`ll always belong to the category of if only!

Let`s just move on shall we.
