I`m still not convinced that the Barcelona full-back, Dani Alves is a realistic target for Manchester United.

His age and projected salary, as well as a contract that would fly in the face of the current club policy for players over thirty years of age, have me believing that it is all just newspaper talk.

But that`s not the view shared by The Guardian who are running a story this morning inferring that Louis van Gaal can acquire the services of the Brazilian if he so wishes.

But perhaps the Manchester Evening New has a more realistic view on affairs when they report that the Paris St-Germain coach, Laurent Blanc, is of the belief that Alves is using the apparent interest of other clubs merely to get himself an improved deal at the Nou Camp.
