A Sign Of The Times As Manchester United Are Linked With Two Strikers I Wouldn’t Even Give The Time Of Day Too

|

In the small matter of a week, the January transfer window will have slammed shut.

Speculation as to who Manchester United might be buying will not be realised or disproven until the summer transfer window opens.

Currently, as I type, Manchester United have not managed to make any significant inroads into bringing some much-needed reinforcements to Old Trafford.

With Marcus Rashford out injured, for a significant period, with a back problem, Manchester United need to bring a striker in.

But, whilst we all wish the club would announce the purchase of a top-notch striker, I’m afraid to say that the names linked with the club are not what you expect.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are looking at bringing Islam Slimani or Odion Ighalo to the club.

Now, don’t get me wrong, both are probably decent forwards but they, in my opinion, are not of the calibre we should be chasing.

Slimani is 31-years-of-age and is on loan at Monaco after being unable to grab a regular place in the Leicester City side.

Ighalo is 30-years-of-age and left Watford to chase the big bucks on offer China with the striker currently on the books of Shanghai Shenhua.

Are these the answers to our ills?

I’d suggest not.

Is this a sign of the times at Old Trafford?

Quite probably, yes!
