Frozen out of the first team picture by Jose Mourinho and deemed surplus to requirements, Bastian Schweinsteiger is currently in Germany preparing to wave goodbye to the international scene.

Bastian will call time on his international career with a farewell appearance against Finland, in Monchengladbach.

Naturally, in a pre-match press conference Bastian was broached about his relationship with the man who has deemed him surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Schweinsteiger`s response gave no hint of any vendetta with Mourinho with Bastian replying to the question,

“My wish would be to continue playing for Manchester United.

“I have no personal problems with Jose Mourinho.

“One thing is for sure: I’m not going to stop playing football. I still believe in my own ability. I could still help Man Utd if given the chance.’

But what is more interesting is that the Scottish media publication, the Daily Record, Click Here, is intimating that another European side is interested in taking Schweinsteiger off of United.

The side in question are Sporting Lisbon who are hoping to take the player on a free transfer.

Now whether Bastian, who has already inferred the United would be his last club in Europe, would be interested in the move or indeed whether he is able to when away on international duty whilst the transfer window is preparing to be slammed shut, remains to be seen.
