The signing of Ashley Young will provide extra competition for places in the starting eleven.

Young, although established as a winger, can play through the middle.

Once the season starts, it`ll be interesting to see where Young fits into the starting eleven. If it is out wide, then Sir Alex Ferguson will have to decide whether to go with one form Nani, Valencia and Young or whether to go for real width and play two of them.

Valencia, currently playing in the Copa America has given his views on the arrival of Young and seems content to battle for a place, remarking to the media,

“I heard about this on the news – I do not fear his arrival.”

“The season is long, and under Sir Alex Ferguson everyone will get their chance in United`s key matches.”

“Ashley is a good footballer and I believe that he will help is towards even more success next season.”

“As for myself, I have two seasons left at United and I am convinced I will fulfil those. And maybe a few more years, too.”

Although Antonio does go on to further fuel those rumours by adding,

“There are rumours about other clubs but I have no news about that.”

I still feel there could be another twist in this one with one of Nani or Valencia departing!
