The Carling Cup fixture, at Aldershot, saw Sir Alex Ferguson entrust young Ben Amos with goalkeeping duties.

With two world class keepers on our books, in David De Gea and Anders Lindegaard, Amos doesn`t get that many first team chances.

At the Recreation Ground, on Tuesday evening, Amos didn`t have the busiest of evenings.

Reflecting on the night though, Amos had this to say about the experience, especially being Goliath in David`s backyard,

“If you`re not switched on, these games can go horribly wrong. Concentration is vital and you need to be ruthless in the box and put your chances away.”

“We wanted to kill them off early doors and we did it with some nice goals.”

“Our aim was to control the game at our tempo like we did at Leeds.”

“If you give the home team encouragement, especially in a tight ground like this, the crowd gets behind them. My job is to keep a clean sheet and everyone`s happy.”

I wonder if Sir Alex will continue with his team selection rotation if we draw one of the big boys, City, Chelsea or Liverpool, in the quarter-finals!
