Well, it’s Wayne Rooney once again in the press. After two splendid performance by the England striker, The Sun quotes Sir Alex Ferguson saying Rooney’s slump (what he’s left behind now) is due to him being rushed back from a broken foot injury to participate in the World Cup.

I tried to warn of the dangers of the hype and expectation that was heaped on him, as England prepared for Germany,’ Ferguson said in The Sun.

‘And it proved to be asking too much too soon of him – a situation that wasn’t helped when he ended up with a groin injury that was not revealed at the time.

‘Football lays down all manner of challenges for players, as Wayne has experienced in recent months.

‘The result has been a dip in the kind of form that we have come to expect from him.’

I’d like to repeat what I had said before: get off Rooney. I know it might be important to know what was the reason behind his sub-standard performances but at the moment I’d just like to savour the thought of our best player coming back into form. I consider it a good omen before the Liverpool game.
